Award winning, Bristol based, designer Carene Leslie, We never managed , to get that interview that I discussed at Taff housing BUZY BEE SEWING GROUP, Facilitated by Kerry Moriyah. However, we did get to chat to her . Well sing her praises, and then post it on social media. Me and my sister, Selina. We all grew in the same neighbourhood, It’s wonderful to not let, the streets or the poor reputation of them , dictate what one can achieve, in life.

I remember my Math , teacher stating to me in school ”A star is what , you are” . I was an awkward child, self concious and often , withdrawn. Yes I had, experienced, racial abuse and the like. But when you are surrounded, by people, who resemble no appearance to you, you tend to want to forget that ”small” matter of colour , In favour of blending in, oh dear what a ludicrous , thought.

During lockdown, renamed the sabbath rest by me. I have been reflecting on my life journey, not only my work and career life, my ability to flit, between different, pursuits and ventures has always been astounding , to others. But deep, down I always, knew why. I am DID, I have distinct, parts of my personality, that perform, different, duties and tasks. At times by passing my conscious mind , completely, and sometimes losing memories, or times. This is quite simply, not only a mental health issues, this is a complex enigma. That needs , specialist help . I over the years , I have researched, experimented and tried different techniques from being in the physicians chair , to me ministering to myself. It has been a , bumpy road, marred , with highs, and lows. Yet my design, work art work that I would do as a child, and my creativity. Have always been a tool, to calm the storms.

I am honoured, that careen lesley is, part of BEE Bettering the lives of ethnic minorities, through entrepreneurship. Carene Lesley, has also experienced, bullying and she has denim fashion statements, prominting anti bullying . Perhaps, that why she is ever so willing , to help others. It is so empowering and endearing , to see women put on a united front and , support

eachother, it is also, great that WOMANSAID Cardiff & also, SWAD , have supported , the collectives efforts, by sharing the go funding info, on their social media platforms.
